Seasonal Maintenance Worker

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This is a seasonal position (35-40 hours/week), beginning in late spring and concluding towards the end of the summer. Hourly Rate is $17.00-$19.00 and is dependent upon experience and skill. The seasonal maintenance worker performs manual work including basic maintenance and improvements to grounds, parks, and  facilities for Oakley City. Also assists with public works and related duties as needed.

SUPERVISION:

This position receives direct supervision from the Public Works Director.  This position does not supervise any other position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to demonstrate or explain, with or without reasonable accommodations that the essential functions of the job can be performed. 

• Perform parks and grounds maintenance for properties owned by the City.  Duties include mowing grass; operating a weed eater; planting, trimming and edging shrubbery, trees, grass and flowers; raking leaves; removing trash and debris
• Operate hand tools; power tools; small equipment including riding mowers, skid-steer, and other city vehicles.
• Cleans drainage ditches and culverts
• Applies fertilizer, herbicide, pesticide, and other various grounds agents.
• Performs maintenance on facilities, including painting, carpentry, demolition, cleaning and disinfection and other janitorial duties.
• Assists with preparation and production of the Oakley Fourth of July Celebration and other special events.
• Assists with public works duties as needed as well as other duties as required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Must be capable of performing all essential job functions
• Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License
• Must be available June 30th thru July 6th including nights and weekend.
• Must be available M-F 8:00 am -4:30 pm, and occasional evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to operate machinery, tools, and equipment.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Must possess the vision, hearing, dexterity, and ability to operate motorized vehicles, equipment, and power tools and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to perform tasks, primarily in outdoor environment in extreme weather conditions.
• Experience in using specialized equipment or skills (backhoe, welding, etc.) is preferred.
